Rewind John Deere Style!

Back in 1986 when Douglas and Andrea bought a ruined house in a plot of land in Clackmannanshire to build their new home they approached a small groundcare equipment company in Dundee to see what machinery they could offer them to help with the work. 

That company was Powershift who soon afterwards became one of the first John Deere Turf Equipment Dealers in the UK. One of the partners in Powershift was our very own Sandy Armit at that time a 25 year old budding entrepreneur and now Founder and Chairman of Double A. 

Sandy was involved in sourcing Douglas and Andrea a used compact tractor and flail mower to cut down the undergrowth around the site. This was joined shortly afterwards with a John Deere 755 Compact Tractor and a John Deere AMT 626, one of the very first 4WD Utility Vehicles to be produced. 

Fast forward to present day and when Douglas and Andrea decided to upgrade their AMT626 they contacted Double A and spoke to Sales Manager John Bateson who suggested the John Deere TE Gator – a battery powered machine, ideal for the work required around their house and gardens with no noise or emissions. After 38 years’ loyal service though they just couldn’t let the old AMT626 go so decided to put it into semi-retirement as it is still in good working order.

Our pictures show Douglas and Andrea on the new TE Gator and their Gardner / Handyman Sandy on the AMT626 as well as a picture of the AMT in all its glory and a side by side.
