Meet Jack Morrison - Our New Golf & Sports Sales Specialist

Our Sales, Marketing & Media Assistant Liam Armit sat down with Jack Morrison, our latest Golf & Sport Sales Specialist to hear all about Jack's background in greenkeeping, sales and goals going forward with Double A.

Tell me about your background Jack.

Growing up I’ve always been a very keen golfer. I decided school was never really for me, so at age 15, after my exams were out the way I spoke to my career advisor who suggested I should be involved within the world of golf somehow, in order to fuse my career with my passion. I was pointed in the direction of Elmwood College, where I studied greenkeeping at NC level. I had a few placements with Fife Golf Trust, where I was able to get a range of experience by working on different courses. In 2017 I moved to Canmore Golf Club where I was very hands on both on and off the course, my ideas surrounding course setup were taken on too which was a good experience to have. In 2021 I decided to make a change in my career, I’ve always been good with people as I’m easily approachable and easy to talk to, I fancied a job in sales so I moved to Eastern Western Motor Group. This role was a good change for me as it gave me variety within my work environment, I enjoy meeting different types of people and no two days in sales are the same. After a few years within the motor trade, I found myself missing the hands-on and golf aspects of my career, hence my decision to join Double A as a Golf & Sports Sales Specialist, combining my love for golf and sales.

What made you want to return to the groundcare industry?

As I said, with my job in the motor trade I was missing the golfing aspect of my career. I began to find that my office job was becoming repetitive. When I was a greenkeeper in the past, I’d see dealer representatives come in and I always thought, that might be something I’d like to do one day. I wanted to take up this role to give myself variety, working in the field that I enjoy. Getting out and about seeing different people, seeing how different courses are tackling their challenges and hopefully helping as many courses as possible to achieve their standards is something I’m looking forward to. Linking my sales skills and my previous knowledge as a greenkeeper, I think its a no brainer I took up this role.

What are your hopes for your future with Double A?

Coming from my greenkeeping background, my approach towards this new role will be ensuring that I make sure I give people the service that I would expect from when I was in their position. I’m proactive with understanding peoples needs and showing initiative to ensure they get the right kit for the job required. I also hope to refresh my knowledge of machinery, as obviously technology has made leaps and bounds since I was greenkeeping. I want to achieve high standards of customer service to run with John Deere and Double A’s reputation.
